Your Investment

2020-2021 has taught me especially a lot about two things 1) my self 2) how time passes.

1) Self: this has became a core concept in my photography over the past two years. The pandemic brought a lot of “me time” and with it a a lot of discomfort and growth. I began to realize how truly not in touch with my awesomeness I was (and at times still am). I then began to realize how not in touch with their awesomeness other people are at times. We’ve let expectations, comparisons, and distractions overwhelm our sense of self. My photography process has developed to bring you back to your true, beautiful, sense of self and hopefully lead you to realize some wonderful parts of yourself you hadn’t recognized before.

2) Time: In the depths of quarantine I painted and did home workouts (and drank wine), I picked up about five new hobbies lasting three days each. I tried really anything to help feel more stable and that would pass the time. Overwhelmingly however, what I found myself doing was looking through photos of myself, my family, my friends. The photos felt like only days before and all I craved was a friend’s in-person, unmasked, laugh or my grandparent’s hugs. And then when months had passed and I finally began to see people again slowly, I really realized how fast the time had gone by and will continue to pass. I began taking extra photos of my loved ones, of the little moments that fill me with joy. I do so in a different way now, unposed and real. I want to hold onto these forever, something to hold onto for when the days get dark.
