2022 Massachusetts Graduates: It's Time for Photos

First, Congratulations!

Seriously, take some time to acknowledge what a huge accomplishment graduating is! You did it (or almost have done it)! So give yourself a big pat on the back, maybe a hug, definitely something yummy, and, to dive into the topic of this post, you maybe should even book a photoshoot to commemorate the big day! ;)

Now, Why Graduation Photos?

I’ve already discussed the irony of how I don't like having my photo taken (by others), especially at events. I’m a photographer and I want good pictures, but I always felt like I had had had one too many terrible photos to feel comfortable when the camera is in someone else’s hands. This is because my mom is not a photographer (love you, Mom, but you can barely open your iPhone camera) and so the photos I wanted to be incredibly special tended to be sideways and my eyes, half open.

I was not particulalry excited for my high school graduation and while part of me for sure wanted good photos, I did not necessarly want to undergo the process of having said photos taken of me.

Four years later, I regret that. I regret not making sure I had good photos with my family, a good photo in my cap and gown, a good photo with friends.

This year I graduate from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. I’m still not particulalry excited for the graduation ceremony itself, but I'm making the photos a priority.

This isn't out of vanity. No this is because I'm proud of my accomplishment and because I know from experience, I will regret it if the days pass and I don't have nice photos to look back on.

This has been a wild ride, and I’m sure it’s the same for you. When I started school, I had no idea what the next four years would entail but it certiantly wasn't this. If you told me four years ago all that would happen from pandemics to break ups to rough classes, and that I still managed through with a diploma, I'd be shocked. Think about it for a second, wouldn't you be too?

So, this is a victory photo. This is to prove to that we made it through. Yes, it’s also a photo to give the grandparents (they can thank me later), but this year especially, we’re making graduation photos proof of all we've acomplished, symbolic of all the hard work we put in, B.S. we dealt with, and also the happy memories along the way. This is your gift to you.

What to Expect from Graduation Photos?

What I love most about the way I design my sessions is how they are customized to create what you want, even if at first you’re not sure exactly what that is, only what it would feel like.

We start with the base: the location. This is somewhere that you will feel comfortable, somewhere that brings out your personality. Maybe it's your school, mayve a feild, maybe the city, we'll find the place! Then we move from there.

Do you want photos with your family or friends? Bring them! Are you also in need of a LinkedIn photo now that it’s adulting time? We can get that too. Classic champaign photo? I’ve got ya.

The process is straight forward. We design your session, we shoot your session, I deliver your session. Every step of the way I’m by your side whether it’s choosing your outfits, location scouting, or helping direct you to create the best possible photos.

You can expect to have fun, but most of all, the common theme is that you can expect to be happily surprised by the outcome. For some reason, so many of us walk into these types of experiences with the expectation that we will fall short or create the bare minimum. Not this time. No, these sessions are for you by you. They are easy and light-hearted, but the final product is honestly like magic.

I love photography because it allows me the opportunity to shine a light on and capture the best of others. To give you (and show you) the credit that you likely don’t give yourself or allow yourself to easily see. This is a new perspective, it’s you in your bests at locations that bring out your personality, perhaps with the people who have helped to make you, you.
