I love food the way I love movies, wholesomely but not too picky. And just as I can love movies without being able to make one myself, I love food without finding myself capable of much of the “making”. I think a lot of people can relate to this. Cooking just doesn’t come naturally to me but I’m intrigued by those who are able to not just make a meal, but who do so with such passion and creativity as Savannah.
So who is the beautiful, strong, kind hearted woman behind the instagram account Savory Servings With Sav?
She is a lot of things. To start, she is a 21 year old hustler based out of Southern Maine. This girl knows how to work, like really work, but never forgets to have fun and enjoy life at each part of its complicated stages. Her Instagram bio isn’t lying when it reads “lover of coffee”. Savannah knows all the best local cafes and what to get at each (I have her to thank for my new favorite work spot). She’s unbelievably kind, and gentle, and fun, but what probably inspires me most about Savannah is the way in which she is able to incorporate her passions into her every day life, no matter how hectic it gets. This is where Savory Servings With Sav comes in; an instagram account started in January of 2017 dedicated to Savannah’s love of food, especially delicious, easily made, healthy, home cooked meals.
Without labeling herself vegetarian, Savannah strives to make creative, flavorful, meals that incorporate as little meat as possible. Savannah takes the many messages she receives from followers to heart, as they describe looking to her instagram for healthy, simple, meal options and she hopes to only make her page more valuable to the lives of others in the future.

Our (Delicious) Shoot!
Last Sunday (our only free day off that week), I was blessed enough to shoot Savannah in her home, as she cooked a wonderful meal. We chatted a bit before as she described to me what she was making and repeatedly mentioned how nervous she was to not just to be photographed but to be done so as she cooked.
Savannah describes herself as not exactly a “recipe” type of gal, mentioning that this is one of her biggest struggles (and goals to work on) when it comes to her Instagram. While I don’t exactly believe that she’s unable to make recipes or follow them, watching her work I understood why she might think that… because this girl doesn’t need to follow recipes. Savannah worked intuitively, tasting as she went, throwing things together seamlessly, and switching up her initial plan every once and a while when the time felt right. The hesitance that may have existed when we first began shooting soon faded away as Savannah’s energy became aligned with her passion for food. It was really cool to see for myself, and even more fun to taste.
The dish was delicious and I am so thankful for Savannah for trusting me into her home, with her vision, and for allowing me to get creative.
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out Savannah on Instagram where you can find this delicious meal and many more:
